Nisa donating lunch and raising 100 volunteer hours

Nisa Leung oversees investments in Healthcare as Managing Partner of Qiming Venture Partners, a leading investment firm in China with over USD 2.7 billionin assets and investments in 210+ companies, including Xiaomi, Dianping, Meitu, Mobike, Gan & Lee.

From being a wide eyed MBA graduate, to an entrepreneur as co-founder of Biomedic Holdings and now a Venture Capitalist that invests in socially impactful companies, our lunch with Nisa gave us a glimpse of what led her on this incredible journey, as well as raising 100 volunteer hours to charity.

What is your life motto that led you to where you are?

“It’s very important to find your passion.

Many people in their 40s or 50s still cannot find their passion, no matter how good they are in what they do. It’s important to find something you are really passionate about so when you get up every day, you are keen to go to work as it’s meaningful and makes an impact to the world.”

Is there a habit that has significantly influenced your life?

“The ability to find self-peace at any time.

People are so busy with different things, especially when you get older. It is important to keep comfort and self-peace so that we know and we are able to catch our own feelings, what we want to do and what others need us to do.

There is a reason for why we are here.

At some point or another, we will receive that message from somewhere, for something that you need to do.

We should not busy ourselves with many trivial things, but through inner peace, try to find what are really important and spend time on them.”

How do you develop that mindfulness?

From Work

“For what we do, we always think of what will happen in 5 years and 10 years’ time. Hence, our mindset is a little bit different from the others. We took a lot of observations in daily life and thought out which part of the of the world is going to reborn and how people’s behavior is going to alter.”

From Family

“I find peace when am hanging out with family.”

Utilize time wisely

“When I read the newspapers, I almost never read the fine prints, only the headlines. I don’t spend lots of time on social media either. It just takes so much time.”

If you are to teach a lesson, which is unrelated to your career, what will be the topic?

“Start work away from home, and eventually work your way back home.

Don’t just work in HK, get work experience elsewhere. If you are in your 20s, try to work in a different country. Once you are in your 30s or 40s, and you have a family, it would be a lot harder. One of my mentors told me this idea and I lived in bay area, Beijing, Shanghai and now back in HK. I hope more people and some of the volunteers can try.”

What is one action that you want people to apply in their lives?

“Try to do something different. Try not to follow the herd. Try to find your passion.

I really believe everyone is made to do something great, but you have to find it.”

Thank you Nisa for spending your Saturday afternoon with us, which has raised 100 volunteer hours to The Boys’ and Girls’ Club Association, Social Career, Boundless, Hong Kong Family Welfare Society and more!
